Q: Do you have internet access?
A: Yes, wifi is available in the cottage and workshop. Currently it is satellite based internet through Neteo. Fiber internet is currently being installed in the community and anticipated to be available at our property sometime in the Fall/Winter 2024.
Q: Is there a host on site?
A: Most of our guests attend what we consider non-hosted private rentals. (These are groups that have chosen to privately rent the property for their own getaway or private retreat. The owners are not present during these rentals.) However, occasionally we do offer weekends open to the public for individual registrations (women only 18+ years of age) in the form of all-inclusive hosted crafting retreats. During these weekends, Alison (the owner) will be on site to host and provide formal meals to all attending the retreat. Private retreat groups who are interested in the all-inclusive hosted format, may contact us about the possibility of offering a private hosted retreat for a specific group. This offering is limited to a women only crafting retreat group.
Q: Does rental of the Gingerbread Cottage include the workshop?
A: Yes, if booked directly through this website or by contacting us via phone or email directly to book. Bookings made online through Airbnb or VRBO do NOT automatically include the workshop space. Rentals made on those booking platforms may choose to add access to the workshop for $75/night.
Q: Do I need to bring my own towel and sleeping bag?
A: No. All bed linens and towels are provided.
Q: Can we work through the night into the wee hours of the morning?
A: Yes, you have full access to the property and can work as late into the night as you’d like. The workshop is detached from the main house so there is no need to worry about disturbing those sleeping while you craft late into the night. Guests using the workshop may watch TV, listen to music, have conversations without the worry of disturbing those sleeping in the main home.
Q: Do I need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to get to the Gingerbread Cottage?
A: A snow worthy vehicle and confident snow drivers are recommended during the winter months. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is recommended between the months of November-April. The bulk of the snowfall occurs normally between February-April. Our driveway is steep in certain sections and can pose a challenge getting out of the driveway if you have a front or rear wheel drive vehicle during the winter months. Please check the weather forecast for snow conditions prior to and during your weekend. The main highway and neighborhood roads are plowed by the county. Our driveway will be plowed as necessary by a local neighbor (typically when there is 3″+ of accumulation. Snow shovels and ice melt are accessible to guests while at the home.
Q: Can meals be prepared in the workshop kitchen?
A: No, the workshop isn’t intended or equipped to prepare meals. However, there is a microwave in the workshop that can be used to heat snack items. There is also a mini fridge in the workshop for small refrigeration needs. The main house, however, contains a full sized kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, microwave and fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, cooking oils, spices, etc…
